Choosing a Wedding Destination for Stunning Wedding Photos

A Wedding Under the Tuscan Sun at the stunning Romanesque Church of Sant’Appiano, known as the oldest church in Chianti, of Etruscan origins.

When I was a child, listening to adults' conversations was my passion. They would often use a phrase I couldn't understand at that time: "Il mondo รจ piccolo" which means it's a small world. I would think to myself "it doesn't seem to be small to me".

Many years later I was able to grasp the meaning and importance of this popular saying, and today it is an understatement to say the least, so much so that physically moving from one end of the globe to another takes less than 24 hours.

This is a strong incentive for a certain type of couple which strays away from the local country club and dreams of a unique wedding in a distant location they have heard of or read about on the internet: a hilltop castle or the beach of an exotic island.

Why Choose a Foreign Wedding Destination?

Wedding in Italy, Podere Finerri- Tuscany

Many couples choose a foreign wedding destination because of their passion for travel, natural curiosity and true love for the arts, traditions and the good things in life, with a focus on themselves: it's not about the Guests, it's all about themselves - the way it should be.

Foreign wedding destinations have seen a tremendous growth over the last 15 years, with thousands of couples getting married in remote and unheard of locations in distant corners of the world.

Quality Over Quantity

A foreign wedding destination will be a deterrent for many guests - this works in favor of quality: you can expect a significant number of Guests to decline your invitation, leaving you with a small number of friends and relatives you really care for and wish to share your very special moment with. Cost is a major factor, especially for exotic wedding destinations, but the reduced number of participants plays in your favor.

Fairytale Weddings in Italy

Wedding at Villa di Catignano - a romantic location of Tuscany, a fairy-tale country house in Italian style framed by olive trees and an idilic panoramic view over the surrounding landscape and Siena.
Many decide in favor of a wedding in Italy because of their heritage, others make a return to "tie the knot" after spending a holiday in one of the many beautiful locations Italy has to offer. Some prefer the noise and excitement of the art cities and get married in Rome, Florence, Siena or Venice (just to name a few of the major destinations): Others prefer the Italian Lakes or the Amalfi Coast and the Tuscan Countryside.

Wedding Party of a Wedding in Siena

The importance of the wedding is amplified by the location which transforms the wedding photos into a story: the sequence of events on a very special day. A beautiful location, good friends and close family, and a great party are the ingredients for an unforgettable wedding. Don't take my word for it - I won't say any more - I'll let the wedding photos I have selected for this post speak for themselves … go back and take a look at the photos once again and leave a comment!
